UTILITY AIDE: CITIZENS CARE AND REHABILITATION CENTER

Summary:

Utility staff are responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of dishes, glassware, pots, pans and utensils through manual and machine cleaning methods. Additionally, utility staff are expected to keep the dishwashing and main kitchen area clean and safe. Assist in food preparation and serving; maintain clean and sanitary conditions in the kitchen and dining areas under the supervision of the Dietary Director. 

Environment:

Work will be performed primarily indoors at one of our long-term healthcare facilities, in the main kitchen, on tiled floors. Work will be performed there routinely around other co-workers, healthcare staff, residents, and guests. Due to the nature of facility’s business, worker may be exposed to occasional slippery floors, object on floors, chemicals, sharp objects, hazardous materials, and waste (including human), blood borne pathogens, and communicable diseases, as well as high-stress medical and/or life-threatening situations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

          • Meet physical and sensory requirements stated below, and be able to work in the described environment.
          • Identify and participate in process improvement initiatives that improve the customer experience, enhance work flow, and/or improve the work environment.
          • Scrape, rinse, and load dishes and utensils into dish machine.
          • Wash and sanitize all pans utensils, and dishes.
          • Clean, sanitize, and maintain dish machine.
          • Unload dishes and utensils from dish machine and organize them properly, assuring they are properly dried.
          • Empty trash containers regularly.
          • Maintain a clean work area and kitchen by sweeping and mopping as needed.
          • Perform additional cleaning duties as requested.
          • Clean and maintain food prep stations and equipment as assigned.
          • Help Dietary Aide position as needed.
          • Assist in the preparation and serving of meals and snacks as needed.
          • Stock and store food items from deliveries, as assigned.
          • Report hazardous conditions, equipment, accidents and incidents, as necessary.
          • Other special projects and duties, as assigned.

Job Requirements:

          • High school diploma or GED required or equivalent related work experience.
          • Experience in hospital or long-term care facility dietary department preferred.
          • Effective verbal and written English communication skills.
          • Highest level of professionalism with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
          • Ability to communicate at all levels of organization and work well within a team environment in support of company objectives.
          • Customer service oriented with the ability to work well under pressure.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy, excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize
