REGISTERED NURSE: CITIZENS CARE AND REHABILITATION CENTER

 

This RN position provides comprehensive resident care at Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center (CCRC). Direction may be given to Nursing Assistants and other staff members. Supervision is received from the Registered Nurse Supervisor, Assistant Director of Nursing, Director of Nursing and/or the CCRC Administrator.

Examples of Work

    • Administer medications and treatments to residents per doctors’ orders and/or CRNP orders
    • Plan, administer, supervise and update resident care plans for each resident within the scope of their abilities
    • Observe, evaluate, record and report the symptoms, reactions and progress of each resident
    • Keep family members and physicians informed of residents’ changing condition and provide support when needed to any family members
    • Ensure that medical orders and facility policies and procedures are followed
    • Administer and supervise special medications and treatments per doctors’ orders and/or CRNPs’ orders
    • Monitor work performance of nursing assistants and certified medicine aides
    • Make rounds of the nursing units throughout the shift
    • Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications and Requirements

    • Current RN license issued by the Maryland State Board of Nurse Examiners (current license must be maintained throughout term of employment)
    • Knowledge of current nursing methods and practices
    • Ability to effectively direct the work of others
    • Ability to effectively evaluate residents’ condition and appropriately respond to immediate needs and emergencies
    • Strong and effective spoken and written (English) communication skills including the ability to clearly convey information to residents and co-workers, and to accurately record medical information, maintain related records and perform other clerical task-s-
    • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and other medical professionals, residents and their family members and the general public
    • Physical requirements include the ability to move/carry equipment and to lift, move and assist residents as needed
    • This position and the physical workplace may include exposure to air contaminants, hazardous chemicals, infectious waste, diseases and medical conditions, etc. (e.g. Tuberculosis, AIDS virus, Hepatitis B virus, )

Preference May Be Given For

    • Previous work experience in a nursing home or related facility, and/or
    • Computer entry experience (data management, word processing, )

Additional Information/ Exam Process

    • Ability to work varying days and hours as assigned, which may include weekdays, weekends and holidays
    • Satisfactory background investigation
    • Subject to random drug testing
