ACTIVITY AIDE: CITIZENS CARE AND REHABILITATION CENTER
Non-exempt; full-time; full benefits; 40 hours per week with varied days and hours
This position is involved in arranging and carrying out all planned programs and activities for residents and also performs varied other duties relating to the Activities Program. At Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center (CCRC), direction may be received from the Assistant Director of Activites; supervision is received from the Activities Director, and some duties may be in an assisting capacity. At Odyssey Assisted Living, supervision is received from the Assistant Director of Activities. Most duties will be performed independently.

Examples of Work

- Maintain and coordinate a calendar of events to provide interaction and stimulation to residents
- Participate in resident visits and encourage residents to join in planned activities
- Provide appropriate activities for residents who are bedfast or unable to attend formalized activities
- Conduct programs and activities
- Assist in recruiting and training volunteer workers, and also in locating volunteer and community groups to provide entertainment and activities
- Bring residents to scheduled on-site activities (helping with wheelchairs, walkers, etc. as needed) and return them to their rooms afterward
- As needed, operate a CCRC lift van to transport residents on community outings and, at other times, travel with residents in other vehicles to off-site activities (helping with wheelchairs, walkers, etc. as needed)
- Documentation requirements include the following: activity attendance, Care planning reports, Quality Improvement interviews, MDS and Recreation Assessments, Point Click Care/ Point of Care as assigned.
- Update and maintain bulletin boards, seasonal and holiday decorations, current events notices and reality orientation boards throughout the facility
- Drive facility van to/from resident events/outings
- Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications & Requirements

- High school graduation or the equivalent
- Possession of a valid automobile operator’s license
- Ability to effectively lead programs and activities, with special sensitivity to the needs and priorities of persons who are elderly and/or disabled
- Ability to effectively organize work and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision
- Strong and effective spoken and written (English) communication skills, including the ability to accurately prepare and maintain resident information and complete other clerical duties
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, residents and their family members, volunteers, community groups, media representatives and the general public
- Physical requirements include the ability to lift 50 lbs, lead and participate in the activities presented; to transport residents with wheelchairs and other transportation means, as needed; to assist residents when boarding and departing the CCRC lift van; move and organize tables/and chairs for resident events, and to move/carry incidental supplies and materials within the facility
- This position and the physical workplace may include exposure to air contaminants, hazardous chemicals, infectious waste, diseases and medical conditions, etc. (e.g. Tuberculosis, AIDS virus, Hepatitis B virus, etc.)
