LAUNDRY ASSISTANT: CITIZENS CARE AND REHABILITATION CENTER

 

JOB INFORMATION: Non-exempt; full-time; 40 hours per week (varying schedule); full benefits

This position is responsible for the collection, laundering and orderly return of linens and resident clothing at Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center and Montevue

EXAMPLES OF WORK

    • Operate automatic washers and dryers
    • Deliver soiled items from Nursing Units to the Laundry
    • Stack and return clean items to the Nursing Units
    • Keep the linen room adequately stocked
    • Sort and deliver resident laundry
    • Assist with housekeeping duties as needed
    • Perform other related duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

    • Ability to understand and follow written and spoken (English) instructions
    • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, residents and the general public
    • Physical requirements include the ability to lift and carry objects weighing 50 pounds or more; the ability to stand for extended periods of time; and the ability to work under conditions of high heat, humidity and noise level
    • This position and the physical workplace may include exposure to air contaminants, hazardous chemicals, infectious waste, diseases and medical conditions, (e.g. Tuberculosis, AIDS virus, Hepatitis B virus, etc.)

PREFERENCE MAY BE GIVEN FOR

    • High school graduation or the equivalent
    • Commercial laundry experience
    • Work experience in a nursing home or related facility

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION/EXAMINATION PROCESS

    • Ability and willingness to work varying days and varying hours as needed, including weekdays, weekends and holidays

EXAMINATION PROCESS (may include)

    • An evaluation of training and experience
    • One or more interviews
    • A pre-employment background investigation
    • A pre-employment physical examination and drug test
