This position is responsible for performing thorough cleaning and servicing of assigned areas at Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center and Montevue Assisted Living. The Housekeeper is expected to work in an orderly, systematic fashion using pre-approved products, tools and procedures and must take all appropriate precautionary measures to ensure the safety of residents, staff members and visitors. Supervision is received from the Supervisor of Housekeeping and       Laundry.

Examples of Work

    • Dust, sweep, mop and vacuum floor areas
    • Wax floors and operate floor stripping and buffing equipment
    • Clean, dust and polish furniture and equipment, sanitize beds, wheelchairs and bedside commodes
    • Empty wastebaskets and remove trash and isolation materials
    • Wash windows, walls and hand rails
    • Change cubicle curtains in resident rooms
    • Clean, sanitize and deodorize restrooms and restock restroom supplies
    • Maintain general upkeep of cleaning equipment
    • Perform basic grounds maintenance duties outside the facility
    • Move and arrange resident room furniture
    • Ensure compliance with HIPAA as it relates to protected health information
    • Attend all required and mandatory meetings
    • Assist with Laundry duties as needed
    • Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications and Requirements

    • High school graduation or the equivalent
    • Knowledge of proper types of housekeeping equipment, cleaning agents and sanitizing chemicals to use in all types of cleaning work, and ability to use them safely
    • Ability to understand and follow written and spoken (English) instructions
      • Willingness to wear the proper personal protective equipment (gloves, gowns, mask )
      • Ability to perform and follow all infection control procedures
      • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, residents and their family members and the general public
      • Physical requirements include the ability to operate floor strippers, high-speed buffers and other housekeeping equipment and to effectively clean all designated areas, as well as the ability to stand and walk throughout each 8-hour shift
      • This position and the physical workplace may include exposure to air contaminants, hazardous chemicals, infectious waste, diseases and medical conditions, (e.g. Tuberculosis, AIDS virus, Hepatitis B virus, etc.)

Preference May Be Given For

    • Previous custodial/janitorial work experience; and/or
    • Work experience in a health care facility

Examination Process (May Include)

    • An evaluation of training and experience
